Axion Open honored by the ITF: among the world's best tournaments for the second time

Chiasso, January 26, 2026 – After an extraordinary edition on the court, the icing on the cake has arrived. For the second time in three years, the Axion Open in Chiasso has been recognized as one of the best ITF tournaments in the world. After receiving the award in 2023, the year the star of merit was established, the tournament has confirmed its status as one of the leading events on the ITF Women's Tennis Tour. The award, based on the 2025 edition, was presented by the International Tennis Federation for full compliance with all organizational requirements and for the excellent evaluations obtained, both from the players and the ITF supervisor. The latter analyzes every aspect of the event in detail: from the services offered to the quality of the infrastructure and the skills of the staff. The director of the Axion Open, Matteo Mangiacavalli, and all the volunteers who put their passion and commitment into ensuring the tournament's success every year are extremely satisfied. The Axion Open will return to the calendar in 2026 and will be played from April 20 to 26 on the courts of the Chiasso Tennis Club.

The words of Matteo Mangiacavalli: "A month after the end of the tournament, I usually take stock and reflect on how to improve for the following year. The results of the 2025 edition were already excellent in every respect, but this award adds special value to the work done by everyone, because the success of the Axion Open is a collective success. Receiving a new award just two years after the previous one allows us to consolidate the quality we are able to offer, both to the players – the real stars of the tournament – and to the public, which is growing year after year, showing interest and appreciation in following the matches, regardless of who is on the court. We have already been working on the next edition for some time: we have several projects and ideas in development to continue offering something new. We remain faithful to a concrete approach, aware of our capabilities and what we can offer to ensure a positive experience for everyone who experiences our tournament.
