Paul Magnier wins the 5th edition

The fifth edition of the Axion Lugano Summer Ride once again brought top-level cycling to the heart of Lugano. On the city circuit along the lakefront, the elite race was won by Paul Magnier, winner of the cyclamen jersey at the Giro d’Italia, ahead of Luca Mozzato and Davide Piganzoli.

Giulio Ciccone, the Giro d’Italia’s blue jersey winner, was also among the evening’s stars. After a hard-fought race full of aggressive moves, the Italian rider received the award for most combative rider, confirming the strong connection between the Lugano event and the big names in international cycling.

However, the Axion Lugano Summer Ride 2026 was not just a race for professionals. The day began with youth races, bringing the U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 categories onto the same circuit. For many young athletes, it was a special occasion: racing in the center of Lugano, in front of the public, on the same course that would welcome the professionals just a few hours later.

The afternoon also featured the FUN races, dedicated to amateurs, with a fast-paced, spectacular format suited to the urban setting. The event thus brought together young riders, amateurs, and professionals for a day of sports that engaged riders, families, and spectators along the entire lakefront.

Following Mads Pedersen’s victory in 2025, the 2026 edition also saw the winner of the cyclamen jersey triumph. This is a strong signal for the Axion Lugano Summer Ride, which continues to grow as a cycling event in the heart of Lugano, blending spectacle, participation, and tradition.
