Marco D’Anna

Biography

 

Marco D’Anna began his career as a photo reporter at a very young age and obtained his federal diploma as a photographer in 1984. He continued his formation through ongoing relations with well-known photographers such as Gabriele Basilico, René Burri, Gianni Berengo Gardin and Mario De Biasi. In 1986, he opened his studio in Lugano and developed a number of collaborations in different fields, with Mario Botta in architecture and Franco Maria Ricci for fine art printing. Starting in 2004-2018, he has travelled around the globe with the author Marco Steiner to visit the places that inspired Hugo Pratt in the sagas of Corto Maltese. Between 2013 and 2014, he developed the photographic project entitled “Alle radici dell’innovazione agro-alimentare” commissioned by the office of Swiss Presence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs [DFAE], which was the official image of Switzerland for Expo 2015 in Milan.

 

In 2018, he wins the prestigious award “King of Photography”. The “Power of the Image” International Photography Culture Exhibition, Cina, (Datong).

Marco D’Anna currently lives and works in Lugano.

 

His recent works have been exhibited at the Museo d’arte della città di Lugano (2011), the Musée des Suisses dans le Monde in Geneva (2012), Expo 2015, Milan, Rome and Turin (2014) and at Hôtel de Ville of Paris (2015). Works of his were on view at the LAC in Lugano as part of the “Swiss Press Photo 16” (2016) and they were part of the exhibition Sulle vie dell’illuminazione at the MASI Lugano, (2017). His recent works have been exhibited at the International Photography Culture Exhibition, Cina, (Datong), (2018) His works are included in collections such as the Collection of the Fondazione Svizzera della Fotografia, the Collection of the Stato del Cantone Ticino, the Collection of the Musée des Suisses dans le Monde in Geneva and the American Polaroid Collection.
